Sleepypod Crash Replacement Program Extends Pet Safety After an Auto Accident
Posted: January 28, 2015 Filed under: Pets | Tags: carriers, cats, dogs, pet travel Leave a commentI have written about Sleepypods before and just how great they truly are. My own little Lily a Min Pin has her very own SleepyPod for traveling in. I take her to every HOPE event I do and she goes in her Sleeypod. I also utilize it as a bed while at events so it works two fold for me. She loves it. And what better of a company to stand behind their work so much they are offering replacements of your existing non sleepypod system if your pet is in an accident.
Sleepypod will replace or provide a replacement discount on any pet carrier or safety harness damaged in an auto accident, regardless of the brand. Sleepypod®, a Pasadena-based company recognized for reinventing pet products through innovative design, today introduces the Sleepypod Crash Replacement Program to extend pet
safety after an auto accident. Sleepypod will replace or provide a replacement discount on any pet carrier or safety
harness damaged in an auto accident, regardless of the brand.
“Sleepypod wants to ensure pet safety after an auto accident,” says Michael Leung, Sleepypod co-founder and lead
product designer. “The integrity of a pet safety restraint may be compromised during an auto accident, so it is
critical to inspect a pet carrier or harness for damage before being reused.”
In this program, Sleepypod products may be eligible for replacement at no charge. Pet safety restraints made by
other brands may be eligible for a 30 percent discount on a Sleepypod pet carrier or safety harness.
Information about the Sleepypod Crash Replacement Program is available at http://sleepypod.com/accidentreplacement-

Nescafe Coffeemate combo!
Posted: December 21, 2014 Filed under: Pets Leave a commentOK well not pet related but still worthy of mentioning as any pet owner knows getting up in the morning requires a cup of coffee to start our day with our pets. Well for all those that like instant coffee I prefer Nescafe coffee. It is rich and smooth tasting. I love flavored creamer in mine and I just found out Nescafe has created a combo unit the Nescafe with Coffeemate containers.
Its perfect as you can literally take it anywhere. Like for instance …. work. Do you love you cup of coffee on your way to work but have no coffee pot at work? So you bring instant coffee and your creamer and sugar and so on. Now you can just buy the Nescafe with coffeemate creamer in original, vanilla, and hazelnut and if you need sugar then bring that too. I don’t do the sugar in my coffee as the creamer is sweet enough.
So try it. Here is a coupon for $0.75 off and it will be for a limited time http://www.nescafewithcoffeemate.com/#coupon But click it and try it. It is REALLY good.
I received a FREE sample of this product by being a part of Smiley360.com. Here they provide me with things to try and in return I provide reviews of the products. Now that being said I have purchased 3 more containers of this product as I just love it.
Scotties Tisssues
Posted: December 3, 2014 Filed under: Pets Leave a commentOK I know, not about pets but it can used with them. See I am a Smiley360 tester. I get free products to test out and give my opinion of them to the public. Now with having so many animals in my own home I have allergies and use tissues from time to time, maybe you do too. Or you have that occasional drooler dog that you have to get a tissue to get it before it drips all over your leg, table, carpet or wherever else it is about to land. Or maybe even you have a pet come in with a boo boo and you need a tissue to clean it up. Either way you get it, everyone needs tissues.
Scotties brand is pretty much like every other tissue out there as they are soft, use well, and durable. Not the kind you sneeze into and they literally fall apart. No these pretty much stay put and together for whatever you need them for. But with Scotties Brand you are not only getting a tissue but your getting a tissue from a company that really looks out for the environment. Now with having dogs we all know they love trees and to be outside. Well with most companies they just take, take and take the trees they need to make more tissues.
Scotties actually plants three trees for each ONE they use. That is correct and you read that right. they plant three more in its place. How cool is that. So next time your in the store in need of tissues maybe think about Scotties and give them a try as they are not just nose friendly, but environmentally friendly too.
Sleepypod’s Clickit Sport Dog Safety Harness just got the 5-star rating!
Posted: October 2, 2014 Filed under: pet health, Pets Leave a commentSleepypod’s Clickit Sport dog safety harness is first product to meet new critical guidelines set by pet research and advocacy organization. My dog, Diesel, has his very own Clickit Sport dog safety harness. It is measured just for him and fits great. A good and safe way to travel so I know he stays put when I put him in my vehicle. And great peace of mind to know it now has the 5-srat rating.
Sleepypod®, a Pasadena-based company known for re-inventing pet products through innovative design, today announces its Clickit Sport dog safety harness is the first product
to meet the new critical guidelines set by the Center for Pet Safety (CPS) in its precedent-setting Harness Certification Program. Clickit Sport earned a five star crash test rating, the highest possible rating, in three size categories: small, medium, and large.
The Center for Pet Safety Harness Certification is the first formal crash test rating system for pet travel harnesses. Manufacturer participation in the program is voluntary. Ratings consist of five star, four star, and not recommended ratings. View the CPS crash test of the large size Clickit Sport harness at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXj_bihZMus&feature=youtu.be.
“The Center for Pet Safety is pleased to award the first five star crash test rating to Clickit Sport,” says Lindsey Wolko, founder of Center for Pet Safety. “Few manufacturers demonstrate the commitment to product safety testing that we have seen from Sleepypod. Theirs is a landmark achievement for pets and the people who love them. Congratulations to the Sleepypod team for this achievement. We hope to see more safety harness manufacturers follow their lead.”
“Clickit Sport is packed with state of the art technology that is the result of a dedicated and intensive engineering effort by Sleepypod’s design team to keep larger pets safe when traveling in cars,” says Michael Leung, Sleepypod co-founder and lead product designer. “The Center for Pet Safety awarded Five Star Rating to Clickit Sport is a meaningful validation of Sleepypod’s steadfast commitment to pet travel safety innovation.”
Testing and evaluation methods by CPS to determine harness safety included measurement of canine excursion, hardware/webbing migration, and hardware/stitching integrity. The test protocol, which is a result of the 2013 Harness Crashworthiness Study conducted by Center for Pet Safety, outlines a consistent test methodology and evaluation program to ensure pet safety harness restraints offer crash protection. It is the first scientific approach to pet product safety in the U.S. market.
“The Center for Pet Safety took great care evaluating the data returned from our 2013 study to understand what safety harness products should do to protect life,” says Wolko. “Pet product manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure that these safety devices protect human life and provide the best chance of survival to the pet in the case of an accident.” Additional information about the Center for Pet Safety and its Harness Certification Program is available online at http://centerforpetsafety.org.
Spottyed Summer Safety Tips

June 21st!- Summer solstice has arrived!
I don’t know about you and the area you live in, but I’m guessing that this may be a much welcome break from all the abnormal extended winter most have experienced around the country.
Now that it’s summer-that’s sure to mean more time enjoying the great outdoors and hopefully that will include your canine companion.
Planning short excursions/ day trips on a local level?
Maybe head out to the wild blue yonder?
or chillaxing around the home front?
La Petite Grande Dame Cherie on a Longer-than-normal Road Trip
While you figure out what plans to make that includes the four legger, you may want to consider a few things to keep them cool in this hot weather.
One thing I’d like to touch briefly on is: there have been many messages, PSA’s, or items in the news lately of dogs left in cars in…

A Happy Ending for Bo
Posted: June 5, 2014 Filed under: Pets Leave a commentSuch a great story and from great people working to make things happen for the older dogs! So glad this dog finally made his way back to his original owners. What a story he has if he could talk though!
We met a young man at McDonald’s this morning, at exit 102 on I-95 in Pooler, GA. It wasn’t a chance meeting, we had planned to meet him there. The last time this young man saw his family dog, Bo, was two years ago. Bo recently ended up in our care and we set up the early morning McDonald’s rendezvous to reunite Bo with his family.
Bo was born in Florida, and then he and his family moved to a horse farm in Augusta, GA, when he was just a few years old. Life was good on the horse farm for several years. In 2012, however, when Bo was 12 years old, his family went through some life changes and had to make the difficult decision to rehome him. They gave Bo to an acquaintance, rehomed their horses, sold the farm and moved back to Florida. From time to time, Bo’s new dad would send updates on how…

Ken Wahl salutes Veterans on Veteran’s Day with a helping Paw
Posted: November 11, 2013 Filed under: Pets, Pets helping people | Tags: Ken Wahl, Pet, pets, Posttraumatic stress disorder, rescue, Therapy dog, Veteran, Veterans Day Leave a commentVeterans Day is a day to honor our military heroes who fought for our country. Ken Wahl, a golden Globe Award winner, would like to encourage people to be more proactive this year towards veterans and to donate to charities that help veterans, since they can’t always depend on government help. The government had to make cuts and one was to pay for therapy and service dogs for disabled veterans.
Charities like Guardians of Rescue see the need for these therapy dogs and pay for the total cost of trained dogs. Therefore they need donations since the training can be $5,000-$20,000 per therapy dog and Ken Wahl and his wife Shane Barbi can personally vouch for this organization. They are the “real deal” as so many veterans referred them to this organization. Now they work with them and see them in action. Ken Wahl wants people do to their own research and be careful as there are many organizations out there that are scams. Ken Wahl endorses and is a spokesperson for the Guardians of Rescue. http://www.guardiansofrescue.org
Ken has personally been told numerous times on twitter by veterans that rescued animals have literally been the only and last attempt to save their life. There is also a magic of rescuing an animal that helps veterans with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Veterans with PTSD usually say they feel like a burden, they feel worthless and it is in that one simple act of rescuing a pet from a kill pound that gives that veteran an instant “feel good” about themselves. This is what they need. They need to feel good about themselves.
Ken Wahl stated, “I’m determined to help decrease the astonishing rate of suicide among our military through what I’ve learned that help me. This is one area that I know worked for me and helped me to cope with my injuries. I’ve always respected the military and I’m grateful they give us our freedom. So I feel this obligation to help disabled vets with rescued pets, since the pets were always so helpful to me. And by them saving an innocent pet from being destroyed at a kill shelter, this also will make them feel better.”
Ken always says “you can’t save the world but you sure make the world for that one animal you saved.” For Ken it is just that, encouraging the veteran to get a shelter pet. Best of all it saves two lives, the lives of the veterans and the lives of the pets at kill pounds.
Guardians of Rescue not only helps with service style dogs but they also rescue “comfort” animals, like a cat or bunny, to help with anxiety or provide purr therapy to help insomnia or stress. Ken has utilized the purr therapy from his cat to aid him from his injuries and promotes The Paw Project, which protects a cats Right to Bear Claws. Guardians of Rescue has also gotten a lot of major news with the help they do by bringing together bonded soldiers with their dog or cat strays from Iraq and Afghanistan. This helps the veteran cope with civilian life. Guardians of Rescue also pick up pets left behind on bases when active military are deployed suddenly.
Ken Wahl would like military personnel and veterans to know of another very effective website which is Dogs on Deployment. http://www.dogsondeployment.org They help find fosters for a cat or dog that is left behind when soldiers are deployed or suddenly deployed. So many servicemen and women have thanked Ken for letting them know about Dogs on Deployment, thinking they had to give up their pet to a kill pound which puts more stress on the servicemen and women.
Another great therapy for veterans that Ken Wahl would like people to share is equine therapy. Ann Romney made news how it helped her cope/recover from MS and Ken has heard alarming success for horse therapy with veterans with PTSD. He promotes Horses4Heroes organization for this equine therapy, http://www.horses4horses.org . Ken Whal and Shane Barbi can personally vouch for them as they know of horses they rescued and veteran families they have helped. How much better can an organization be, that rescues horses from horse slaughter and then uses them to help veterans heroes cope with PTSD.
It is with this information for veterans, that we would like to say thank you for your service. Thank you for putting your life on the line so we could have the freedoms in which we have. We hope within this article that you may be provided with solutions to some of the issues that so many service men and women are struggling with on a day-to-day basis. It is with the help of others that you can start to overcome the situations you have, just reach out and ask for the help. There are so many good organizations out there ready to help you. As Ken Wahl has pointed out, they are here to aid you and get you back into civilian life. Again, we thank you for your service.

Sleepypod Yummy Bowls are the greatest for trips to keep water cold
Posted: November 6, 2013 Filed under: Pets Leave a commentI personally have used the large size Yummy Bowl for my Lily when I have taken her to HOPE events. It allows me to keep her supplied with fresh cool water for the duration of an event, which could be 4-6 hours. It also allows me to bring snacks or treats for her and keep it all together in a nice neat compartment. She liked it and it was easy to clean and use. I will be taking it on trips as well as all my events that my dogs go with me on.
Sleepypod®, a Pasadena-based company recognized for reinventing pet products through innovative design, today introduces medium-sized Yummy Travel Bowls® for cats and dogs of any size. “In response to demand for Sleepypod products to accommodate larger pets, we created medium-sized Yummy Travel Bowls,” says Michael Leung, a Sleepypod product designer and company owner. “Medium and large-sized pet owners want the travel convenience and ease of use that small-sized Yummy Travel Bowls offer.”
The new medium-sized Yummy Travel Bowls have the same innovative features as the small size but more capacity. Yummy Travel Bowls features a spill-resistant water bowl that serves as the base, a food bowl that slips into the water bowl making the water bowl leak-free, and a lid that seals Yummy Travel Bowls making it spill-proof. The lid becomes an extra bowl when flipped over, thereby allowing for dry food, wet food, and water to be served in separate bowls.
When the Yummy Travel Bowls lid is used as a food bowl, the saucer portion can be filled with water to keep ants out of food. View a Yummy Travel Bowls video demonstration at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPAOHQNiY2Y
“Yummy Travel Bowls remain consistent with Sleepypod’s safe product priority,” says Leung. Yummy Travel Bowls are made from baby safe, FDA food grade, BPA-free silicone that is freezer, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
A new color choice has been added to the Yummy Travel Bowls palette of available colors in the medium size only. In addition to Very Berry, Sea Breeze, Mango Tango and Key Lime colors, medium-sized Yummy Travel Bowls are available in Blueberry.

Sleepypod Clickit Utility dog harness is the safest around
Posted: November 6, 2013 Filed under: pet health, Pets Leave a commentI have personally used one of these harnesses with my dog Diesel. It was fitted and sized for him. It is easy to put on and easy to fasten to the seat. It keeps him right in the seat and keeps him out of harms way. It seems very safe and very sturdy. The straps on it were very good quality and you can really notice a HUGE difference in the quality of this harness versus one you just buy at any store. I must if traveling a lot with your dog.
Sleepypod®, a pet products company known for reinventing pet products through innovative design, today announces its Clickit™ Utility dog safety harness was named the 2013 Top Performing Pet Safety Harness in a Subaru of America, Inc. and Center for Pet Safety (CPS) collaborative study to test the effectiveness of pet harnesses marketed with safety claims.
CPS designed the first of its kind pet harness study that included crash testing as one of its measures. Pet harness crash tests mirrored the test used for determining the effectiveness of child restraint systems for autos. Sleepypod’s Clickit Utility was identified as the clear top performer because it was the only harness tested to consistently keep the crash test dog from launching off the seat and the only restraint deemed to offer substantial protection to all passengers, including a dog, in the event of an accident. View the Subaru and Center for Pet Safety final summary of the Harness Crashworthiness Study at http://centerforpetsafety.org.
“Sleepypod appreciates the efforts of Subaru and the Center for Pet Safety to conduct this study on behalf of pet owners,” says Michael Leung, a Sleepypod owner and product designer. “Testing for product effectiveness is an essential component in Sleepypod’s design process and this study affirms Sleepypod’s six year commitment to researching and developing pet safety restraints, beginning with our very first pet carrier.” View videos of Sleepypod’s research and testing at http://sleepypod.com/safety.
Unlike typical pet safety harnesses which are one-point in design, Clickit Utility is the world’s first three-point dog safety harness. Similar in concept to the three-point seatbelt federally required in all vehicles, Clickit Utility’s three points of attachment absorb force in a frontal collision by dissipating energy and keeps the dog in the car seat during impact.
“The three-point design not only diminishes the opportunity for collision with parts of the vehicle and passengers, it also reduces the chance for traumatic injuries associated with one-point dog safety harness designs that either catapult a dog’s upper torso forward into anything in it’s path like front seats, passengers, and even windows, or submarine the dog meaning to catapult the dog’s lower torso forward and concentrate the damaging forces onto the dog’s torso or even the neck,” explains Leung.
Clickit Utility was designed as a versatile safety harness that can be used as a three-point harness in the rear passenger seat and also as a two-point safety harness in the cargo portion of an SUV. The Center for Pet Safety tested Clickit Utility for effectiveness in its three-point application.
